Company policy on alcohol and drug
Company policy on alcohol and drug
The company believes that abuse or improper use of alcohol, drugs or other related substances by its employees jeopardizes their ability to properly fulfill their work responsibilities and, at the same time, could create consequences that are harmful to themselves as well as the safety, efficiency and productivity of their co-workers and the company itself.
Ghizzoni SpA is committed to creating a healthy and productive working environment and, as a result, strictly prohibits the possession, use, distribution and sale of alcohol and drugs that are illegal (or subject to control and not prescribed by a doctor) on company premises and on the work sites where it operates. Failure to observe this ban will result in appropriate disciplinary action which could even lead to dismissal. The company further recommends that these substances not be used outside working hours as the negative effects connected to their use could also manifest themselves in the course of the work day.
The company recognizes that alcohol and drug dependence is curable and it invites those with problems of addiction to seek medical help and undergo proper treatment before their ability to work is irreversibly affected and their health and safety and that of others affected.
The company doctor is available for consultation regarding this question, in full conformity with the guarantees provided for legally and contractually.
Even if the condition does not completely impede the employee’s ability to perform the tasks assigned him, if the state of dependence on alcohol or drugs is such that it creates a hazard for the employee and others, given its duty to provide a safe working environment, the company will modify the tasks normally assigned the employee as provided for by law.
Ghizzoni SpA has the right to dismiss an employee for just cause in the event the employee’s inability to perform the tasks assigned him are ascertained in line with legislated provisions and that it is a result of dependence on drugs or alcohol, even following medical treatment. The company undertakes to request its sub-contractors, partners and suppliers to adhere to this policy and/or adopt a similar one.
